Lisa Medders | Faith, Family, and Purpose
I’m Lisa Medders. I’ve worked in real estate since 2008 and help people buy, sell, and invest with a clear plan. I’m a REALTOR in Georgia and South Carolina, a real estate broker in North Carolina, and a Notary Public in Columbia County, Georgia. I also mentor agents as they build their careers.
I’m a proud mom and granny. My oldest son is an Army veteran and former firefighter who now serves as a K9 officer. He’s also the father of two boys who call me Granny, one of my favorite titles. My youngest son serves in U.S. Army Military Intelligence. I’m proud of the men they’ve become and the ways they serve others.
In 2014, I lost my daughter, Tori Anne Riley, to colon cancer. She was just 26. I started the Team Tori Foundation to honor her life and help more people learn about colon cancer in young adults. Her faith and the way she loved people still shape how I live and serve.
I write about grief, faith, and finding the strength to keep going in A Grieving Mom’s Walk and Thixkin. There have been mornings when all I could do was tell myself, “Get up. Get dressed. Keep going.” Some days, that was enough. My faith gave me something to hold on to when I couldn’t see what came next.
If you’re walking through a season that has left you feeling broken or unseen, I want you to know your life still has purpose. You can miss what you’ve lost and still make room for joy. I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds me.

My Passions
Team Tori Foundation: Honoring Tori Riley
The Team Tori Foundation was created in loving memory of my daughter, Tori Riley, who bravely battled colon cancer but tragically passed away on August 24, 2014, at just 26 years old. Tori’s incredible strength, courage, and compassionate spirit inspire everything we do.
Through the foundation, I am dedicated to raising awareness about the risks of colon cancer, especially among young adults, and educating others about the importance of early detection and advocacy for their health. This mission is deeply personal, as Tori’s diagnosis at such a young age opened my eyes to the need for more awareness and education.
In 2016, the Team Tori Foundation awarded its first annual scholarship at Tori’s high school in O'Fallon, IL. This scholarship celebrates her legacy and provides financial support to students pursuing their dreams—just as Tori would have wanted.
The foundation also strives to ease the burden for families facing the financial challenges of cancer treatment. Whether it's helping cancer fighters set up donation sites or providing assistance through our programs, we aim to be a source of support and hope for those in need.
